Everyone has an opinion, or an unpopular theory that sounds crazy to certain people but is very popular for other people. One of these things is the hypothesis that the earth is actually flat and the globe theory is a conspiracy so we don’t freak out about being able to fall off the edge of the earth. Now, you may say “we have tons of evidence that proves we live on a sphere floating through space like pictures taken by astronauts who also have eye witness accounts!”, and you’d be right, but this evidence isn’t good enough for some people because to most people, seeing for themselves is believing. So, what can we do then? 

We have a number of billionaires launching rockets into space, and often they invite special celebrity guests. I propose that during one of the next launches, save a seat for the leader of the flat earth movement so that he can go up into space and report back to their constituents what they saw up there. Maybe have him snap some pictures that he can bring back down to his group. It would be interesting to see how they might react to the evidence they find upon leaving the atmosphere and if they will report it honestly or maybe we will watch them struggle with cognitive dissonance and denial which may be important for science as well. I feel like it’s a win-win for everyone on earth, and something Bezos or Musk should think about.
